A&J Group

Since 2020 I have been chief operating officer and a partner at A&J Group, the London-based education company behind A&J Education and A&J School. We reached seven-figure revenue in two tax years without outside investment, and we built our own teaching platform.

I am responsible for operations: the quality framework, the KPI scorecard, and the team of coaches and tutors.

Accreditation and The King’s Award

As headmaster of A&J School, I led its accreditation with WASC (the Western Association of Schools and Colleges), which runs to 2031, and with Array Global. The school teaches the Cambridge International and Pearson Edexcel curricula.

In 2024 A&J School received The King’s Award for Enterprise (International Trade), the highest official UK award for a business.

AI adoption in companies

Since 2025 I have led AI adoption projects inside companies. The most recent was for a Portuguese logistics group: 49 employees trained in two four-hour sessions, a working guide and starter pack for each team, and a final day on which the teams presented their own AI use cases to the company’s leadership. The programme was built around the company’s AI policy and the risk levels set out in the EU AI Act.

How this connects to my research

Companies tend to judge an AI project by its output. I am more interested in the people using the tool, and in the skills they stop practising: the junior analyst who no longer builds the model, or the manager who no longer drafts the memo.

My current research asks when AI assistance leaves people more capable after it is switched off. It is at an early stage. My working hypothesis is that the answer depends on how the tool is introduced. If so, managers decide it as much as engineers do.
