What I am working on now

Outlining a book on what is happening to children’s interior lives now that those lives are also data. The proposal is taking shape; the first chapters are being drafted.

Writing a fortnightly essay for the journal here and on Substack — currently a piece on what we owe young people who grow up inside recommendation systems.

Research-side, working on a paper extending the agency framework from my 2024 piece in Studies in Higher Education to learning contexts where AI tutors are doing more of the affective scaffolding.

Reading widely on developmental psychology in non-Western contexts — partly for the book, partly because the field has been narrow for too long.

Speaking-wise, taking selective invitations: school heads’ conferences, family-office gatherings, and intelligent long-form podcasts. Available on referral for a small amount of advisory work.
